Lafarge India’s second line at sonadih cement plant goes on stream
Raipur, January 6, 2010:
Lafarge India announced the commissioning of a new Cement Clinker line at its Sonadih Cement Plant in District Raipur, Chattisgarh. With the installation of the new Clinker line, Lafarge India’s production capacity will stand at 6.5 million tons of Cement, which will further increase to 7.5 million tons after the completion of the grinding unit at Jojobera, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). In a function held at Sonadih on January 5th 2010, Dr. Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chattisgarh inaugurated the unit in the presence of Mr. Bruno Lafont, Chairman & CEO Lafarge Group. Also present on the occasion where senior ministers of the state cabinet and other dignitaries. Commenting on the new unit Mr. Bruno Lafont, Chairman & CEO Lafarge Group observed, “This is a significant step in our strategy to consolidate our premier position in the Eastern India and re-iterates commitment to India, which is a key geography for Lafarge with its focus on the emerging markets.

Lafarge is one of the major producers of Cement in Eastern and Central India with its leading brands – Concreto and Duraguard. It currently has four cement plants in India: 2 plants in the state of Chattisgarh and a grinding plant each in Jharkhand and West Bengal.
