LAFARGE INDIA LAUNCHES MEDICAL HEALTH CENTER
Karsog, June 12, 2009: As a part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, Lafarge India today announced the launch of a Medical Health Center in Mandi district. Located at Thalli village in Karsog block, the health center will be managed by NIDHEE, which is a not for profit trust promoted by Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd. The objective for setting up the Medical Health Care Center in Thalli village is to provide basic and primary healthcare facilities to the residents of the surrounding 8 panchayats viz. Thalli, Shakra, Tattapani, Bindla, Balindi, Bagshad Sawindhar & Sunni. Mr. Deepak Sanan, Principal Secretary, Health, Government of Himachal Pradesh inaugurated the center and appreciated the company’s efforts of providing healthcare to villagers. The Medical Center launched in association with Himachal Pradesh Voluntary Association – a network of over 50 NGOs across the state, will have a full time doctor, laboratory technician and para medic staff. The center will offer free medical checkups, first aid facilities, medicines for general and common ailments and also conduct routine laboratory tests like HB, blood sugar, urine, VDRL etc. It will also facilitate weekly general health checkup and awareness camps in surrounding villages, monthly school and aganbadi health programs, distribution of health related awareness material, building linkages with existing government health facilities for strengthening referral services and pro-active participation in government health programs like pulse polio campaigns, DOTS programe etc. Speaking on the occasion Anurag Kak- Senior Vice President, HP Project, Lafarge India Pvt.
